At the end of our drug unit last semester on an anonymous survey we had students tell me we should make drugs seem more scary and dangerous; so, we created this PowerPoint.

This 51-slide presentation on the dangers of drugs can be shown to teens anytime, or anywhere. If you teach Health, it fits great into your drug unit.

NOTE: The PowerPoint does have graphic pictures so please be advised!

  • These drugs are included in the presentation: hallucinogens, Marijuana, Heroin, Methadone, Oxycodone, GHB, date rape drug, alcohol, Xanax, Diazepam, sleeping pills, inhalants, Methamphetamine, Cocaine, and Ecstasy, Spice, Molly, K2, and Bath Salts. I put Marijuana first on the slideshow and discussed that it's often the gateway into these other drugs. In this way, the other severe, gross, dangerous, fatal effects that the later slides show can be Marijuana's ultimate effects too if it's the drug that led teens to those other drugs!

  • The focus for this lesson is that Marijuana is a sneaky drug that many teens feel is safe to use. While it is true that you don't hear of Marijuana overdose and it is legal in most states for medical use, (and many states for recreational use as well) Marijuana is addictive. It also causes "Amotivational Syndrome," where teens can begin to lose their motivation for school attendance, grades, sports or family. Marijuana is also dangerous as a gateway drug because it hooks kids in, and is often the first drug they use, having choosen to take that step across the line to using drugs.

  • PowerPoint slides teach about hallucinogens and Marijuana before the "Drugs are Bad" presentation.

      Modern, Authentic, and Beautiful Curriculum!

This curriculum is honestly such a breath of fresh air. I'm done struggling with health resources that feel dated, clunky, and just plain boring. What I love most is how authentic it feels. It doesn't talk down to students; it meets them exactly where they are with modern, real-world scenarios that actually matter to them. The design is absolutely beautiful. It’s clean, professional, and visually engaging, which makes a huge difference when I'm trying to keep a classroom’s attention. It feels like a high-end, living system rather than just another dusty textbook and it turns health class into a journey that students actually want to go on.

      About time.

Finally curriculum that makes sense! Thorough, thoughtful, intuitive, with a beautiful layout. Easy to work from, and for me, the section on addiction is well worth the purchase alone. Highly recommend.

Clear, Easy to Understand, and FUN

This is my first experience using a HET curriculum, and I'm genuinely impressed. The course is thoughtfully designed with clear organization and and easy-to-follow layout, making the content highly accessible. Health can often be a challenging subject to both learn and teach, but this curriculum presents it in a way that is engaging and manageable for everyone involved. It creates an enjoyable experience for both instructors and students alike. I'm looking forward to starting the upcoming semester feeling confident, supported, and equipped with such a polished and effective resource.

This was a great resource and easy to use! Thank you!

This health resource was exactly what I needed for my high school students. It was age-appropriate, relevant, and sparked meaningful conversations. My students actually enjoyed the lesson—which says a lot!

      Great Resource

I've been in the classroom teaching Sports Medicine the past 7 years after teaching 6 years of PE prior. I did not want to reinvent the wheel and middle school PE was the only level of PE I had not previously taught. This bundle has been extremely helpful in providing lead up activities and practice, along with games I'd never seen that are developmentally appropriate for MS.

      Very helpful resource

This was a very helpful resource for a topic that is not always the easiest to teach, especially to students with disabilities who struggle to understand interpersonal relationships.

      Excellent Resource!

Working at a small school with an inexperienced PE teacher, this tool helped guide planning for the year!

      Wow. Wow. Wow.

I recently had the opportunity to explore the "Empathy Lessons for High School" unit, and I can’t recommend it highly enough! This social-emotional learning health unit is incredibly well-crafted, providing students with essential tools to understand and develop empathy in today’s diverse world. The lessons are engaging and relevant, encouraging students to reflect on their own experiences while also considering the perspectives of others. Activities such as role-playing and group discussions foster a safe environment for open dialogue, allowing students to connect on a deeper level.

      HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I absolutely loved this resource! My students loved it and were engaged the whole time! I love the way it is set up, makes it very easy to follow and understand with little to no prep. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CURRICULUM!

      User-Friendly & Professional

Thank you for taking the time to create a lesson that is very user-friendly and covers the heavy topic professionally.
